According
to Puranas, Panvati or Panoti, is a she demon metaphorically representing the dire
astrological influences caused by the Navgrahas or nine planets. In
Astrological terms, the word “Panoti” means trouble.
Popularly,
image of Panvati, can be seen in the idols of Lord Hanuman under his feet,
where he is shown to be crushing her with his feet in to the ground, signifying
that Lord Hanuman can remove all the bad astrological influences.
His

Tirtha Swamiji of Datta Peetham, Mysore prescribes frequent chanting of mantra “OM NAMO HANUMATHE NAMAHA” to ward off evil causes
& effects and limit the bad astrological influences.
